We thoroughly health test our dogs, performance title, and conformation evaluate on the trial field, to ensure that they are the healthiest, most trainable, long lived and beautiful examples of the breed.

Our dogs are proven both on and off the trial field and in real life. They have jobs in SAR, police, family protection, handicap services and are some of the best family companions out there.
Breeding Philosophy
Our Breeding Program
First and foremost we love our dogs and our breed. Breed preservation is important to us. At RHK, we breed the German Shepherd Dog (GSD) to the SV (German GSD Kennel Club) standard for a healthy dog then working purpose, then aesthetics. This is how a GSD is a GSD. We trial, temperament test and breed survey them in Schutzhund (IPO/IGP) through internationally recognized organizations such as Schutzhund USA and health test through licensed veterinarians and recognized health certification organizations such as the Orthopedic Foundation of America (OFA) and the German A Stamp program. We raise and train our dogs in our home ourselves so we have a clear idea of what is going into our program. We also keep pups back from our litters to see first hand what we are producing.
Why do you need a pet from a breeder who does all of this?
You want your pup to be healthy, resilient into old age, long lived and have sound temperament. You also want your pet to be trainable and stable in temperament so you can take them with you and enjoy their company without worry. You love your pet so you want them to be around as long as possible. Only by the breeder putting their dogs through all of the above testing criteria can they be assured of their dogs will produce sound pet dogs. Would you buy a car from a company that did not thoroughly test their design? You will never put your car through the rigorous testing the manufactures do to develop and improve the design. But you want the manufacture to do that so you can rest assured you have a safe and reliable vehicle. Same for your "just a pet" friend.
Our dogs are more then "just a dog"— They are part of our heart.
You want a pet, a companion, not a show dog, right? Well, you chose GSDs for a reason. You’ve done your research and have read that they are loyal, loving, intelligent, protective family dogs. That they are just as at home in a suburb as they are working a farm. They are good police dogs that can come home and love on the cop’s family. They will chase sticks and balls and hike with you in the woods and you don’t have to be afraid of someone attacking you. They will help you round up the kids, wake you up when you ignore the alarm, comfort you when you are sad and celebrate with you when you are happy. You have seen them in jobs from shepherding, to service dog, to police dog to horse farm dog. The GSD can do this because of the standard laid out by the founder of the breed and by dedicated breeders such as ourselves breeding to the original breed standard.
